OUR

MISSION

At School Strike 4 Climate, we are a collective of passionate students united by our concern for the future of our planet. Bridging thousands of kilometres, we have created the largest youth climate movement in Australia.

On Friday, the 17th of November, we are striking against the Australian Federal Government's approval of nine fossil fuel projects and the nine billion dollars worth of subsidies handed out to the fossil fuel industry.

We’re demanding that the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, and the Minister for the Environment and Water, Tanya Plibersek, #ShiftThePower away from fossil fuels to help save our deteriorating planet.

DR NICK ABEL

doc-sig-1

Honorary Associate Professor, ANU College of Science

Nick Abel’s research is about social and environmental adaptation, tipping points, collapse and recovery. He has worked for the United Nations, the UK’s University of East Anglia, University of Canberra, the CSIRO and currently at the Australian National University. Dr. Nick has analysed prospects for planned retreat of coastal settlements from rapidly rising seas, adaptation to climate change in the Murray Darling Basin, and the potential for revegetating catchments and relocating houses to mitigate the consequences of increasingly catastrophic river floods. His main focus now, is on how to achieve the rapid social and technological transformations we must bequeath to future generations.
